1. PUT YOUR HAT ON WHEN YOUR HAIR IS 100% DRY
Are you ready for your Bill Nye the Science Guy moment? Hair is built of Keratin, consisting of ionic, hydrogen and disulfide bonds. Water can break down the first two bonds, making the hair more flexible and softer. As the hair starts to dry, the ionic and hydrogen bonds harden, retaining its shape until getting wet again. This means, if your hair is wet when you put a hat on, it will dry the way it was smashed and crammed in there. Bust out the blow dryer, and make sure your hair is dried into the general style you want (before you put on your hat, of course)!
